How would you describe NotesMappr in just one sentence?
NotesMappr is a mobile note taking app that enables the user to both assert semantic relationships (or associations) between notes and subsequently "navigate" said notes (by means of the beforementioned associations) in a very straightforward manner.
Perhaps the best way to describe NotesMappr is: "NotesMappr is note taking that fits your brain. Whenever. Wherever."
-
Okay, so you can link notes together in a meaningful way with NotesMappr. What other distinguishing features does NotesMappr have?
Well, initially you will only be able to attach images to notes. But subsequent versions will allow you to attach much more to individual notes; for example, you will be able to attach Google and Twitter searches, Freebase queries and GoogleMap coordinates to notes. Or take a photo or shoot a video and attach it directly to a note.
Furthermore, you will be able to post your notes (or excerpts of them) to your Facebook wall or Twitter feed directly from within the application. Or share (a sub-set of) your notes with your friends, family and/or colleagues.

When will NotesMappr be released?
If the testing goes well, NotesMappr will be released on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 on the Android Market.
-
Is NotesMappr only going to be available on the Android platform?
Initially, yes. That is, for the foreseeable future, NotesMappr is only going to be available on Android. However, if demand warrants it, I will consider porting the application to other popular mobile operating systems.
-
Will NotesMappr be available on, for example, the Motorola XOOM?
Absolutely. I envision that by the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2011, there will be a version of NotesMappr developed specifically for tablets running Android 3.0 (Honeycomb).
What's more, Android 3.0-based tablets will provide a much richer and more interactive user interface and accompanying user experience in comparison to the equivalent mobile applications. The tablet-based version of NotesMappr will be able to take full advantage of Android 3.0's enhanced capabilities making for a much more powerful and intuitive application.
- There is not a doubt in my mind with regards to note taking - it constitutes a central role in the effective transmission of knowledge.

How can I enter text in the text-field without the keyboard covering the whole text-field?
When I have to enter the whole text completely blind, this app is useless for me.
(HTC desire)
Hi,
Yes, this is an issue that I am going to to address with the next support release of the application. What about changing the orientation of the device to edit the note? I realize that this is not ideal, but it is a work-around until I fix this issue.
Thanks for downloading the app and providing me with this very useful feedback.
Brett
When I change the orientation, only the ‘Identifier’ field is visible, so this isn’t a work around at all I fear…
I was wondering if this problem has something to do with the keyboard I use (SlideIT), but also after changing to the default keyboard, the problem is still there.
You found a genuine bug
It has been fixed and tested… please try with the updated version 1.0.1, which is already available on the Android Market.
Thanks and regards,
Brett
For reference sake, this bug has been fixed and the update (version 1.0.1) is already available on the Android Market: https://market.android.com/search?q=notesmappr.
When will be a full text search available? Right now it only finds matches in the topic and not in the note body text.
Hi Frank,
I have been planning to add full-text search to NotesMappr for some time, now. I’ll include it in version 1.1 which I am hoping to release within the next fortnight.
Thanks for your feedback.
Regards,
Brett
Why can’t I see a list of my notes? If its there its way off from a usability standpoint. For instance. Make the current note summary clickable to an index and slidable left and right by most recent.
My 2new cents
Hey Sam,
Thanks for your great feedback. It’s a good suggestion and one I will definitely consider to include in a subsequent version.
NotesMappr is still a relatively young app and a lot of usability tweaks will be made to it over the course of the next couple of months.
Thanks again for you feedback,
Brett
Hi, I am also curious about the index subject. Is there any way to find your notes? Granted I only made a couple and this can’t count as a complaint of personally urgent caliber but I can imagine it could be for someone who has made a lot of notes without linking them. I guess it is similar to having to remember passwords and the lack of an index may be a very valuable security feature in that regard. But not if the data is valuable to access but not sensitive to need shielded.
Anyway thanks for the product. It looks promising as the most intuitive mind mapping software in my market as of yet.
Sincerely,
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
Many users have requested the inclusion of an index for the notes. Hence, the next version [1.3.0] will include several UI improvements, chief among them, the ability to display [and sort] notes in an index.
Thanks for your invaluable feedback.
Regards,
Brett
