Topics is a topic map-based information repository and knowledge management tool. It’s a desktop application built with Adobe AIR for personal use. Furthermore, it uses Adobe AIR’s embedded database, SQLite for its data storage (that is, it does not depend on an Internet connection to work).

Topics can be put to effective use in the following situations:
- Brainstorming sessions
- Notetaking
- General clarifying of thoughts

Use Topics to build and visualize, among others, Mind maps or Concept maps.
Overview
The application enables the user to create so-called topics and link them in every way imaginable. Once linked, you can navigate the resulting topic map in a very straight-forward manner. Furthermore, you can attach resources to your topics. These resources could include images and PDF-files.
Implementing the application as a Rich Internet Application (RIA), I am hoping to provide a vastly improved user experience. Specifically, the availability of powerful graph visualization libraries available for the Adobe AIR/Flex platform, that allow you to visually layout the relationships between topics, contribute to making the whole topic map experience very intuitive and appealing.
A tentative road map for the development of the application is as follows:
- March 01, 2009: Alpha release
- May 01, 2009: Beta release
- June 01, 2009: Release Candidate 1
- July 01, 2009: Release Candidate 2
- July 15, 2009: Final release of version 1.0
